  • Global sustainability experts explain how the new rules are shaping cotton and guarantee the supply for the future of the textile and fashion industry in a evening lecture in Sydney on Tuesday March 22 from 5-6 pm and again in Melbourne on Thursday 24 March from 18:30.
    RMIT University in collaboration with TFIA, invite you to attend an evening lecture on "Global Organic Textile Standard" - business opportunity in the market for sustainable cotton.
    This conference gives you insight on how the rules of cotton are shaping the sustainability and ensure the future supply in fashion and textile industry. The focus is on developing better frameworks around the world and people and ensure the increasing profitability of business.
    Cotton / polyester blend together represent approximately 80% of current world use of fiber. The issues surrounding sustainability in cotton farming are numerous. progressive thinking suggests that we reduce the demand for cotton by different design and research into better methods of cultivation.

    The Council of Textile and Fashion Industries of Australia (TFIA) has been representing textile clothing and footwear (TCF) industries since the 1940's.
    The International Working Group on Global Organic Textile Standard is comprised of four member organizations of reputation, namely, the OTA (UnitedUU.), IVN (Germany), the Soil Association (UK) and Joca (Japan), which contribute to the GOTS, together with international organizations actors and experts, their expertise in organic farming and environmentally and socially responsible treatment of textiles.
