Egypt's Alcotexa sells 1,193 T cotton in past week

  • CAIRO (Reuters) - Egypt's Alexandria Cotton Exporters' Association (Alcotexa) committed to sell 1,193 tonnes of cotton in the week ended January 15, an Alcotexa official told Reuters on Sunday.

    The sales comprised 432 tonnes of the Giza 88 variety and 761 tonnes of Giza 86, the official said.

    Alcotexa's export commitments for the 2010/11 season, which began in September, are now 91,589 tonnes of cotton worth $344.39 million, the official added.

    By this time last year, Alcotexa had sold 52,693 tonnes of cotton worth $117.3 million.
